Pink and black truffle favours from Thorntons

Pink Oriental

These pink and white truffle favours from Thorntons are called Oriental Blossom. They do have a slight exotic flavour but I certainly wouldn’t have assumed so had it not been for their name.  I think they would look beautiful on any table setting with a black and white theme.   Some people go overboard with the black and white theme and I think sometimes you need a bit of colour to break up the starkness.  Since favours are often only given to (or appreciated by) the female guests at the wedding reception it also adds a touch of femininity.

My only grumble with these favours (but it would be nothing to lose sleep over) is that you only get a choice from two Thornton’s chocolates favours - Chocolate Truffle or Champagne Truffle.  Now these flavours are probably pretty safe bets for most of your guests but given a choice I would have chosen one of my own favourites, such as the Viennese Truffle.  With such an elegant style of favour box I am also a little surprised to see Thorntons wrap their prized chocolates in bright red foil.  Because of the heart shape they do a little like the tacky chocolates that make an appearance around Valentines day or worse still, the type of chocolates that get left behind in a tin of Quality Street.  I am sure they taste far superior however.  Personally, I would be inclined to line the boxes with some crumpled white tissue paper and position the chocolates inside with their wrappers removed.

You can either buy a 2 chocolate box (£2.00 each) or a 4 chocolate box (£2.50 each) and it would appear that the size of the box is the same for both.  I would probably go for the 2 chocolate version and use the money saved towards buying an extra couple of chocolates of my own choosing.  The boxes also come with a sticker with with the word ‘wedding’ unless you state otherwise.  So if you want them personalised make sure you specify this when ordering so that you can have the bride and grooms name and wedding date as shown in the picture.
