Vintage wedding tiara from Michal Negrin

Tiara design tends to be pretty unimaginative these days with twised silver or gold wire and beads forming the mainstay of the everyday tiara designers portfolio.  Whether you like it or not you cannot disagree that the tiara above is exudes nothing but originality.

I absolutely love it along with all the other costume jewellery from Michal Negrin.  This link takes you to the UK website which looks a little outdated.  The USA website is much more impressive and the magical opening display would looking equally at home on a fairytale entrance to a Disney website.  All of Michal’s vintage style jewellery, including the gorgeous ornate tiara above reminds me of the brooches I used to rummage through as a kid in my Grandmother’s jewellery box.  Some have been handed down to my 9 year old daughter who surprisingly shares my enthusiasm for old fashioned design.  This is the kind of tiara you would be proud to pass down to a daughter or granddaughter in years to come and it would look equally magnificent even after a little tarnishing from the elements.  The price of this Tiara is around £500 – £700 depending on where you shop but the brave amongst you might find you can pick it up cheaper from a US stockist (especially with the favourable exchange rates as they are).

You can find Michal Negrin jewellery in Harrods, Liberty and Selfridges but they have built up a growing list of stockists outside of London.  Michal Negrin will also be exhibiting from 1st – 3rd June at the Pulse 2008 event at Earls Court.  You had better check in advance that they will be bringing along the tiara pictured because this event is not a wedding show.

The largest online collection is actually available on Ebay. The best shop is which offers 10% discount on multiple purchases (great for bridesmaids’ gifts!) and low shipping fees. They have a fabulous selection of bridal jewellery including Mother-of-the- Bride sets!
